Recent Naver Place & Search Updates

Naver continues to refine its Place and Search experience with practical updates that make everyday discovery faster and more relevant. Here’s a clear overview of four recent improvements from the official Naver Search & Tech blog.

1. Discover Places Through Other People’s Saved Lists

When searching for places to visit, many people wonder: “Where have others actually been?”

Starting August 20, Naver now surfaces public Saved Lists created by real users directly in search results. These are lists that people have built and shared on Naver Maps. You can browse curated collections from users with similar tastes and discover new spots more organically.

This feature turns individual recommendations into a discoverable resource, helping travelers and locals find places that go beyond standard ranking.

2. Refreshed Place Search Results: Photos + Key Info at a Glance

Naver has redesigned the Place search results page so that photos and essential information appear together more clearly.

AI now selects the most relevant photos for each industry and displays them prominently at the top of the results. The update applies across multiple categories, including:
– Restaurants
– Beauty salons
– Accommodation
– Attractions
– Golf courses
– Hospitals

The same improved interface is available in the Naver app, mobile web, and PC map/search. Users can now grasp the character of a place much faster without extra taps.

3. Real-Time Hydrogen Vehicle Charging Station Status

Hydrogen car drivers often face uncertainty about station availability, wait times, and pricing.

Naver has introduced real-time status for hydrogen charging stations. When you search for “수소차 충전소,” you can see:
– Current congestion level (color-coded)
– Pricing information
– Available facilities

Status indicators:
– Green – Immediately available
– Yellow – Available but possible short wait
– Red – Crowded / longer wait expected

This helps reduce wasted trips and fuel, especially useful given the still-limited number of hydrogen stations compared with EV chargers.

4. Smarter Animal Hospital Search with Filters

Finding the right veterinary clinic for a specific pet or condition has become easier.

Naver now supports more precise filtering when searching for animal hospitals. You can narrow results by:
– Type of animal treated
– Medical specialties / departments
– Specific conditions or treatments (e.g., orthopedic care for dogs)

Example searches such as clinics skilled in canine orthopedic procedures now return more targeted results. Pet owners can locate suitable clinics more quickly based on their animal’s actual needs.

These updates show Naver’s continued focus on making Place search more visual, personalized, and practical for real-life situations — from weekend outings and travel planning to specialized needs like hydrogen charging and pet healthcare.

Have you tried any of these new features yet? Which one do you find most useful?
